People have different reasons for consulting a psychotherapist.  Some come to explore problems regarding personal or family problems.  Some people come to address old or traumatic experiences.  Others want to change habits or improve overall performance and wellbeing.  And there are some who want to better understand dysfunctional family traits and learn how to better deal with them.

Occasionally a single counseling or coaching session is all that's needed.  More often therapy may continue for several sessions.

Asking Questions

You are consulting a professional trained in human behavior, not an expert on You.  You bring knowledge of your personal experiences to the sessions.  I approach counseling as a consultative process that requires your active involvement for meaningful results.

You have the right to know what I am doing and why I am doing it.  If you have questions, please ask them at anytime during the therapeutic process.

Before setting an appointment, feel free to contact me and ask a few questions.  You may want to know more about my credentials, techniques or experience.

What Does Counseling Cost?

Fees can vary.  You may pay nothing if your employer has an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) in place.  You may pay a small co-pay assigned by your health insurance.  Or you may pay a negotiated amount agreed upon by you and me.  Don't assume that you cannot afford counseling until you have discussed your needs with me or another counselor.
